January 1, 2000 Wal-Mart Ad for the Hewlett-Packard Pavilion 6573Z Computer

Check out this advertisement I found in a Wal-Mart ad booklet stuffed inside of my local newspaper dated Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000. It’s amazing how far we’ve come, in terms of computer specs, within the last ten years. It’s also amazing how the prices of computers have dropped. I mean, $998 for that? Wow. Sure, that was a great deal back then, but a computer with average specs today, such as those were at the time, would be about half of that.

Worried that your current computer won’t work now that it’s the new year? With this model, you can worry no longer because it’s “Y2K Hardware Compliant”. Other perks include a pre-installation of “Microsoft Windows 98″, a “Huge 17.2 GB Hard Drive”, and a “15-Inch color monitor”. You won’t find a better deal anywhere else. You know why? Because that’s Wal-Mart. Always low prices, always.
